And more flowers of October. These are mostly Orchids they blossom every year during this month. Funny enough many of them are yellow. So many yellow flowers during this month. Hope you enjoy!
Don’t forget to visit the State Orchid Exposition being held the weekend of the 30th of October at the Ex Hacienda de Temixco, 15 min south of Cuernavaca.
In many countries Fall arrives painting the forrest with red, yellow and brown leaves. Here in Cuernavaca it’s no different. However it is not the leaves in the trees that change colours, it is the flowers on the fields and the flowers on the trees that paint the landscape of yellow and orange. Moreover a particular fellow also starts filling the sky, Phoebes, yellow butterflies of all sizes which fly from flower to flower making the fields seem like a scene out of a Gabriel García Márquez book.

There are a few days left till day of the dead (All saints’ day) and in México this is a very important date. There are many traditions around this holiday. The most important is presenting an offering to your dead relatives. This offering consists on setting up an altar to the dead relative. You could start with a picture, and some of the food they liked when they were alive. Also some fruits and drinks, incense, candles and last but not least Cempazuchitl flowers.
These flowers will be laid on the floor from the entrance of the house to the offering so that the dead relative can find it’s way through the house.
These yellow fields are found in Cuernavaca and fill the air with a lovely smell.
Don’t forget to buy your flowers and get your offering ready.
Happy all saints’ day!
